In Going After Rwanda, Paul Blezard Wants Publicity for his New Project, Lets Give Him That

Self-acclaimed literally writer Paul launched  The Lockdown Litfest online literary festival in March last year. It was to be a platform that gave live author interviews and a wide range of other cultural content.

The business model here is that Blezard benefits from the many literally grants to host the podcast with select writers. As the podcast grows, any writer intending to appear would have to pay. That would in turn raise Blezard’s profile, so he can organize literally festivals.

That was the plan.

About two years later, it hasn’t made that much headway. The investors are asking uncomfortable questions. Blezard must find the answers. As an informed personality, he knows one of the biggest stories is Rwanda.

What better than to join the racist bandwagon rallying up for the terrorism sponsor Paul Rusesabagina.

Blezard starts off with “Rwanda has become a desperate nation in deep crisis…”. As a writer, Blezard no doubt has a mastery of the English language. He will use the most outrageous of phrasing to get the most of attention.

There is no denying the COVID-19 has left  pain in Rwanda, like everywhere else. Economies have gone down.

If by “desperate nation”, Blezard means its people are at the tail end, that ofcourse is false!

If we put Paul Blezard on the one side of Rwanda’s scale, and the World Bank, the World Rule of Law Index and a host of other verifiable sources on the other, who can be trusted? The answer here is obvious.

If by desperate, Blezard is referring to ‘white-man democracy must fit all’ narrative, where a country’s wealth belongs to the one percent, then he is right. Yes, ofcourse, Mr Paul Blezard, Rwanda cannot be like your native Britain.

I will assume your deliberately blind support for Paul Rusesabagina isn’t because you share a name.

Since you chose to ignore all the facts  about Rusesabagina, his terrorist activities and well documented conmanship, there is no use for me to bring them up here. It doesn’t matter whether you accept the evidence provided during the trial of Rusesabagina. In any case, you have that right.

Blezard repeats a line copy-pasted from the Rusesabagina lobby machinery; that no evidence was presented and that he defended himself because he had been denied legal counsel. Really?! For the record, Rusesabagina pulled out of the trial at the very beginning, which went on for weeks.

Blezard chooses not to mention that among the victims of Rusesabagina’s rebel group, was  13-year-old girl Ornella Sine. She would be 16 by end of this year. Her innocent body was burnt completely from the ambush that her remains had to be identified through DNA.

Blezard may have no children of his own, so I cannot blame him for the lack of empathy for Ornella.

Or maybe Blezard should stick to his conspiracy theories about the Holly Bible, and let the people of Rwanda map their own destiny.
